IPL 2022: MS Dhoni No Longer The Same Finisher, Should Bat Up The Order For CSK- Reetinder Sodhi

Former Indian player Reetinder Sodhi feels that MS Dhoni should bat up the order for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022. Sodhi feels that MS Dhoni does not have the same finisher’s strength that he had in the past and hence batting a little higher might give him some time to set on the crease.

MS Dhoni is going to lead Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022. The right-handed batsman has failed to smash runs in the last two seasons. In IPL 2021, the right-handed batsman scored 114 runs in 16 games. In IPL 2020, he piled up 200 runs in 14 matches.

MS Dhoni No Longer Same Finisher That He Was Known To Be: Reetinder Sodhi

While speaking on India News, former India all-rounder Reetinder Sodhi said that MS Dhoni should bat up the order so that he can hit big shots later.

“MS Dhoni has to bat up the order because he is no longer the same finisher that he was known to be a few years back. If he takes his time, comes in the 10th or 11th over, he can hit the lusty blows later. MS Dhoni knows that he is the key to CSK’s prospects,” Sodhi said.

Sodhi also said that if Ravindra Jadeja picks up the form, he can take CSK to IPL 2022 final.

“Ravindra Jadeja’s form will be very important. The way he batted in the Mohali Test match, the way he is bowling, these are great signs for Chennai that if he picks form, he can take Chennai to the IPL final. Ravindra Jadeja, Dhoni – all these big players have to take a lot of responsibility,” Sodhi further said.

Other than MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja, some crucial players part of Chennai Super Kings are Ambati Rayudu, Moeen Ali, Deepak Chahar, Dwayne Bravo, and Shivam Dube. CSK is set to play the opening game of IPL 2022.

CSK will face Kolkata Knight Riders in the opening encounter on March 26. The match will take place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. CSK is the defending champion of the tournament. They won the IPL 2021 title last season after defeating Kolkata Knight Riders in the final.
