Former England Captain, Kevin Pietersen compared Virat Kohli to great footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. He underlined how both the players are brands in themselves and how much value they hold as brands.

Virat Kohli has struggled for runs in the ongoing season of the IPL which has been causing concern, but in RCB’s last game against Gujarat Titans, Kolhi scored his first fifty of the same. But it was his slowest fifty in the format.

So, it was apparent that his knock of 58 runs of 53 balls generated mixed reactions. Some lauded Virat for getting back into the thick of runs while some complained about his strike rate. In any way, RCB lost the match, despite Virat Kohli scoring runs.

He Would Be Fuming That Those Runs Were Not Enough For The Win: Kevin Pietersen

Pietersen is a huge admirer of Kohli as he has always backed the Indian batter to do well. It was no different after Kohli scored his first fifty in IPL 2022.

“What he needs to do is to have a look at Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo. Two similar brands in their different teams and in their sports. You have Virat Kohli right at the top of cricket, his brand is right at the top of cricket. Cristiano Ronaldo is right at the top of football.

“One plays for Manchester United, and one plays for RCB and India. Those are big brands and they are going to be talking points. Those big brands also want to maintain their status in the game by winning,” Pietersen said on Star Sports.

Pietersen is not really wrong in comparing two great players as Virat himself has said on several occasions how much he admires the football legend.

“This knock yesterday, he would be looking and thinking some beautiful shots, absolutely fantastic shots and I felt good. But I know he is a champion, he is a winner and I know that he would be fuming that those weren’t enough for the win,” Pietersen further stated.

Kohli is yet to cross the 200-run mark in the tournament, but the RCB management would hope that Virat gets back to his best when they take on Chennai Super Kings in their next encounter on Wednesday.
