IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad and Australian-based coach Tom Moody parted ways with each other after a poor 2022 season.
Moody, who was the head coach of the Hyderabad franchise from their very first season in 2013, had a successful first stint till 2019.

Under Moody, the Orange Army won the title in 2016 and reached the knockouts on four more occasions. Thereafter, he returned to the franchise in the year 2021, this time as a team director and again became the head coach for the 2022 season, replacing compatriot Trevor Bayliss.

However, his second stint didn’t go that well as the Kane Williamson-led side finished at eighth position in the points table.
Following the 2022 season, Moody’s contract ended with the franchise and both parties have decided to not continue from here.
“As his term with us draws to an end, we would like to thank Tom for his contributions to SRH. It has been a much-cherished journey over the years, and we wish him the very best for future endeavours,” SRH said in a statement released.
Tom Moody wished the franchise well
Brian Lara, who was the strategic advisor and batting coach of the franchise in IPL 2022, will take over the role of head coach for the 2023 season.

Moody confirmed his departure from the franchise while wishing Lara and the team a good future ahead.
“It’s been a great journey and I wish them (SRH) well,” Moody said to Cricbuzz.
Moody was the only one left from the SRH management, as all other members have retained their roles. Dale Steyn (fast bowling), Muttiah Muralitharan (spin bowling) and Hemang Badadni (fielding) will form the management for the 2023 season under Lara.
SRH have now had two consecutive tough seasons in the IPL despite building a new squad under IPL 2022 mega auction.
