For Punjab Kings, IPL 2023 was another unsuccessful season where they failed to reach playoffs once again. With 6 wins across 14 games, Punjab Kings ended in the 8th spot in the points table. 3. Matthew Short
Matthew Short was picked by the Punjab Kings in the last season. He also opened the innings in a few games. However, the Australian batsman failed to smash good knocks with the bat. In 6 games, he piled up just 117 runs averaging in 20s.
His top knock was 36 runs. Due to his continuous flop show, the team dropped him from playing 11 in many games. Hence, he might be shown doors ahead of the next season.

2. Shahrukh Khan
Shahrukh Khan is an all-rounder who has been part of the Punjab Kings for the last few seasons. He completely failed to fire with the bat in the last edition, hitting just 156 runs across 13 games. He scored a good knock of unbeaten 41 runs in one game but failed to come up with good shows in other matches.
He also did not bowl any overs during the tournament. Punjab Kings might look for a powerful all-rounder ahead of Shahrukh Khan for the next season and as a result, he can be released from the squad.
1. Rishi Dhawan
Rishi Dhawan is an all-rounder. Last season, he featured in 6 games and could only pick 1 wicket at an economy rate of 8.57. With the bat, he hit 20 runs in 3 innings. Hence, he completely failed to grab the limelight with both bat and ball. Hence, Dhawan is another player who can be released by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2024 auction.
