Rajasthan Royals (RR) will aim to make a comeback in IPL 2024 after a close finish for playoffs last season. Rajasthan Royals finished in the 5th spot in the previous season and failed by just one spot to qualify for playoffs.

The Sanju Samson-led side ended as runners-up in the 2022 edition. The IPL 2024 auction is set to take place on December 19 in Dubai. Ahead of the auction, RR has released 9 players from their squad and retained 16 players. They also traded one player- Devdutt Padikkal to grab pacer Avesh Khan from LSG.

With 17 players in the current squad, Rajasthan Royals has space for 8 more players, out of which only 3 can be overseas players. However, they have Rs. 14.50 left in the kitty. Here we talk about the 5 players Rajasthan Royals can target in the IPL 2024 auction.

Rajasthan Royals has a strong top order comprising players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, and Sanju Samson. However, they lack a strong middle-order. They also parted ways with Devdutt Padikkal as he failed to show good form in the middle-order last season. Hence, RR can target middle-order players in the IPL 2024 auction.

Daryl Mitchell is the first player they can look out for. The Kiwi middle-order batter smacked tons against India during the ICC World Cup 2023 last month. Smashing centuries in both games against India on Indian soil, Mitchell has made a name for himself. He was part of RR in IPL 2022.

Steve Smith is a powerful middle-order batter. He was part of Delhi Capitals in the 2022 season but did not participate in 2023. Now, he has kept a base price of Rs. 2 crore in auction.

If we take a close look at the RR squad, they also lack medium-pace all-rounders. Hence, they might target some medium-pacers. Chris Woakes can be one of the good choices.

The England all-rounder can smash big sixes and also grab wickets while bowling. Woakes won the Player of the Series award in Ashes 2023 and also showed a decent all-round performance in the ICC World Cup 2023 for England.
