IPL 2024 Auction: Brad Hogg Leaks CSK's Auction Table Strategy

Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg has listed out the strategies of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) that they might come up with, in the IPL 2024 auction. With an urge to build a strategy for repeating the IPL 2023 heroics, the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will walk in the auction table for the 17th edition of the cash-rich league.

CSK is expected to be led by veteran captain MS Dhoni whereas they will once again be coached by Stephen Fleming. However, former Australian spinner Brad Hogg already has the master plan ready for the ‘Men in Yellow’.

As per Brad Hogg, CSK might ensure a place in the top three of the IPL 2024, if they rope in Manish Pandey along with young Kiwin opener Rachin Ravindra or batsman Daryl Mitchell. Both these players were one of the main reasons for New Zealand‘s success in CWC 2023.

Speaking on his YouTube channel Brad Hogg said:

“CSK will go hard after Harshal Patel and that is going to hurt RCB. Harshal Patel has the qualities needed to bowl on the Chennai wicket. If they get Manish Pandey, either one of Mitchell or Ravindra and Harshal Patel, CSK will be in the top three for sure in IPL 2024. CSK need an Indian middle-order batter.”

“Manish Pandey is the man for them. He is also a good fielder, but we have not seen the best of him and I think if he gets an opportunity with CSK and under the leadership of MS Dhoni, we will see the best of him again. I also think they need another option in the middle order and they can go after Mitchell, but I don’t think they will get him. I think they will go with Ravindra.”

Chennai Super Kings are one of the most successful teams in the history of the Indian Premier League and have kept the core of the team as same as it was in 2008. CSK have made it to the playoffs of the cash-rich league in almost every season and have won five titles along with the Mumbai Indians.

The MS Dhoni-led side has played a crucial role in nurturing veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin played the initial matches of his IPL career for CSK and now is the number one ranked Test bowler. Ashwin has progressed a lot under the eyes of MSD.

A total of 333 players will go under the hammer in the IPL 2024 auction which will be held at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. Big names such as Shardul Thakur, Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, Wanindu Hasaranga, Sam Curran, and many more.

All these players have the potential to turn around matches at their own will and also play a crucial role in helping the team win matches from crucial stages.

Teams such as Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants have well-settled teams and will want to boost their strategies for the upcoming edition of the tournament.

Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings will also be aiming to win their maiden IPL title.
