In what has been the latest development as per the reports in Sports Today, it is learned that Delhi Capitals approached Mumbai Indians for the Rohit Sharma trade ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction 2024.
The reports in Sports Today suggested that the Delhi Capitals were keen to have Rohit Sharma in their team as a captain. But Mumbai Indians declined the offer and they were not interested in the trade. The Parth Jindal-owned franchise tried to acquire the services of Rohit after the latest developments at the Mumbai Indians.
Mumbai Indians removed Rohit Sharma from the captaincy and named Hardik Pandya as the leader. The decision invited a lot of criticism as many were not in favor of the development and lashed out at the franchise for the way they sacked the Indian opener as a leader.
Rohit Sharma arguably has been the best skipper in the league as he has won five titles in his 10-year stint as the captain of the team. To remove a skipper of his caliber raised quite a few eyebrows as he has been one of the main reasons why the team is the joint most successful franchise in the league.
With Delhi Capitals approaching Rohit Sharma for the trade, it won’t be a surprise if other teams try out as well. The reports in Sports Today added that the deal couldn’t happen because of the three-year contract that the Indian captain signed with the Mumbai Indians.
