Harry Brook, the England batting sensation will be one of the top batters to watch out for in the IPL 2024 auction. After roping him in for 13.25 crores Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) released him ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. He ended up scoring just 190 runs in 11 innings including a century in his debut season.

Brook’s debut IPL season was not one to remember. Apart from his century against KKR, he had nothing much to offer with the bat. Thus his reputation that he had gone with into the auction was all undone. With 34 crores in the bag, Hyderabad has one of the largest remaining purses among all the franchises.

They will look to overhaul their squads and will need to target an overseas pacer along with an Indian pacer and spinner who can play consistently in the XI. SRH retained 19 players and is looking to fill six remaining slots three of which are overseas slots.

SRH Likely To Buy Back Harry Brook: Brad Hogg

Speaking on his YouTube channel ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, Hogg stated that he expects SRH to go behind Brook once again and rope him in for a lower price.

“They got rid of Harry Brook and threw him back into the auction. They spent too much on him thinking that big things were going to come from him. But, he is first on the list and Travis Head is second. SRH have a lot of money to spend,” Hogg said on his YouTube channel.

Hoogg further said that the Hyderabad franchise can target Mujeeb Ur Rahman in their efforts to strengthen their spin attack.

“They know everyone is going to be after Travis Head, so they will be hoping to get Harry Brook back for about 20 percent of the price they paid for him in the last auction. That will free up a little bit of money to strengthen the bowling department with an overseas quick, but also they need strength in the spin department, a wicket-taking option and I think they will go for Mujeeb-ur-Rahman,” Hogg further stated.

Hogg also spoke about Gujarat Titans and whom they might target at the auction. He said that alongside targeting Travis Head, GT can go hard behind Mitchell Starc. Starc made a return into the IPL auction after 8 years. Hogg said that Starc and Mohammed Shami can make a very good pair for the Titans.

Gujarat Titans Can Target Mitchell Starc: Brad Hogg

“They have the most money to spend, and they are going to go hard out for Travis Head. They want an explosive opening batter and he is the man for the job. They also have enough money in the bank for a big overseas quick to really complement Shami in the bowling department, so watch out for Mitchell Starc,” Hogg said.

“He will be the man that GT picks up. He will be a great acquisition and don’t be scared GT fans, he will really come this time. Just imagine Shami and Starc opening the bowling for GT in the powerplay, they are going to be hard to beat,” Hogg concluded saying.

The IPL 2024 auction will be held in Dubai on December 19. It will be telecasted on the Star Sports Network. The live-streaming of the same will be available on the Jio Cinema app.
