IPL 2024 Auction: Who Is Shubham Dubey? The Batter Who Was Bought By RR For 5.8 Crores

In the ongoing edition of the IPL 2024 auction, Vidarbha batsman Shubham Dubey had a wonderful afternoon as he was sold to Rajasthan Royals (RR) for INR 5.80 crore. Dubey was picked up by the inaugural IPL champions based on his magnificent performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023.

Shubham Dubey, born in Yavatmal in the year 1994, plays domestic cricket for Vidarbha. Dubey garnered headlines due to the wonderful Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 performance and scored runs at a strike rate of 187.28.

Who is Shubham Dubey?

Shubham Dubey scored a total of 221 runs from seven matches at an average of 73.66. His most impactful innings of the tournament came against Bengal when while chasing down 213 runs, Dubey scored an unbeaten 58 runs in just 20 balls. His innings included a total of three fours and five sixes.

In List-A cricket, Dubey has also scored 159 runs in 8 games at an average and strike rate of 31.80 and 90.34 respectively. Shubham Dubey has also played 20 T20 matches and scored 485 runs at a strike rate of 145.20.

Australian players shine at the IPL 2024 auction

Getting back to the IPL 2024 auction, it was a memorable afternoon for the Australian players. Australian pacer Mitchell Starc had a memorable return to the cash-rich league and was picked for INR 24.75 crore by the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Starc broke his Australian teammate and captain Pat Cummins‘ record and now is the most expensive player in the history of the tournament.

While Mitchell Starc was sold to KKR, Australian captain Pat Cummins also found a new home and went to Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 20.50 crore. Cummins led the Aussies to their sixth ODI World Cup title after defeating India in the final of the 2023 edition of the tournament.

Apart from Cummins, Travis Head was also picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 6.80 crore. Head was the Player of the Match in the semi-final and the final of the ODI World Cup 2023. Head will be a brilliant inclusion for SRH and also strengthen their batting lineup.

Kiwi players Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra were also picked in the IPL 2024 auction and it was Chennai Super Kings who once again showed faith in New Zealand players. Mitchell was picked by the IPL giants for INR 14 crore whereas Ravindra was added to the team’s roster for INR 1.80 crore.

The Indian Premier League 2024 is expected to start from the end of March and will go on till May. Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are once again expected to lift the trophy whereas Royal Challengers Bangalore, Lucknow Super Giants, and Delhi Capitals will also be in the hunt to win their first title.

However, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals also have all the capability to win the IPL trophy whereas Punjab Kings may also surprise the fans in the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league.

The IPL 2024 can be considered as the last edition for CSK skipper MS Dhoni, however, he may once again surprise the fans if he wins yet another trophy with the ‘Men in Yellow’.
