IPL 2024 Teams And Their Squads

IPL 2024 is the 17th season of the Indian Premier League and is set to take place in March-May this year. Although the IPL 2024 schedule is yet to be announced, IPL teams have already begun preparations for the tournament. After the IPL 2024 auction, all the 10 IPL franchises have formed their squads.

Players like MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, Aiden Markram, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Faf du Plessis, and KL Rahul are set to lead their respective teams in IPL 2024. A few teams might change their captaincy but it is less likely to happen unless there is an injury.

In the IPL 2024 auction, all the 10 IPL teams grabbed their favorite players to strengthen their squads. Big names like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Daryl Mitchell, Harshal Patel, and Alzarri Joseph earned the most expensive deals during the auction. Some uncapped and newcomers also grabbed hefty packages. They will aim for a stunning show and strengthen their teams during IPL 2024.

Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Lucknow Super Giants will observe the return of their captains in IPL 2024, who missed last season due to injuries. Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Royal Challengers Bangalore will wrestle under the same leadership. Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians have changed their skippers and will undergo a new phase in IPL 2024.

Chennai Super Kings are the defending champions of IPL 2024, who won the trophy last season by defeating Gujarat Titans. However, the battle will be tough this year as multiple teams have strengthened their squads after the Indian Premier League 2024 mini-auction. Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

Chennai Super Kings will be led by MS Dhoni in IPL 2024. The wicket-keeper batter led the side to two titles during the last three seasons. Hence, CSK has been the most successful team so far in this decade. Also, after winning the trophy last season, CSK joined Mumbai Indians to become the most successful team with 5 IPL trophies.

The men-in-yellow have a powerful batting line-up with the likes of Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Shivam Dube, and Moeen Ali. With Shrdul Thakur and Deepak Chahar leading the pace department, CSK will be more settled in the next season. Matheesha Pathirana and Mukesh Chowdhary will also play a crucial role in bowling. Maheesh Theekshana will handle the spin attack.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

Under skipper Hardik Pandya, Mumbai Indians (MI) will enter a new phase in IPL 2024. However, the men-in-blue have the combined strength of their old stars who dominated IPL in the last decade. Mumbai Indians aim to extend their dominance in the Indian Premier League 2024 by adding another trophy to their kitty.

With batting giants like Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, and Tim David, MI has a marvelous strength in the batting zone. They lack equal strength in the bowling department. However, Jasprit Bumrah, Piyush Chawla, and Jason Behrendorff add a lot of might to their experience.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

After MI and CSK, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are the most successful team in the Indian Premier League. KKR has two IPL titles to their name. They also reached the final in the 2021 season but couldn’t clinch the trophy. Shreyas Iyer is the captain of KKR in IPL 2024. He missed the last season due to injury but will be back to take the reins of the team in the Indian Premier League 2024.

KKR has a strong batting unit with names like Nitish Rana, Jason Roy, Rinku Singh, Andre Russel, Venkatesh Iyer, and Shreyas Iyer. The two-time champions also own a stunning spin attack with Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman in the lead. KKR has also strengthened their pace attack by adding Aussie pacer Mitchell Starc into the squad for the 2024 season of IPL.

With Shubman Gill taking the reins of Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2024, the franchise will commence a new journey under the new skipper. Hardik Pandya has parted ways with GT. However, his ouster is less likely to affect their core strength.

GT’s might in batting is led by batters like Shubman Gill, David Miller, Wriddhiman Saha, Kane Williamson, Sai Sudharsan, Matthew Wade, Rahul Tewatia, and Shahrukh Khan. They have a strong set of bowlers with the likes of Mohammed Shami, Noor Ahmad, Rashid Khan, Mohit Sharma, and Joshua Little. All-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai will be in focus after Pandya’s ouster.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) emerged in the limelight in the 2022 season, when they reached the final and were a dominating side. With one IPL trophy in their kitty, RR is also one of the IPL champions. Sanju Samson will lead the side in IPL 2024 too.

Batsmen like Jos Buttler, Shimron Hetmyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, and Rovman Powell will play a crucial role for RR in batting in the Indian Premier League 2024. RR also has a reliable spin attack with the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Adam Zampa. Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, and Avesh Khan are expected to lead an excellent pace attack.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Sunrisers Hyderabad might be the worst performers in recent seasons, however, they are another team that holds the IPL title. SRH won the IPL trophy in the 2016 season. They also dominated by reaching playoffs for the next few seasons. In IPL 2024, SRH will aim for a powerful comeback.

Under Aiden Markram, SRH comprises a strong batting unit with the likes of Rahul Tripathi, Heinrich Klaasen, Travis Head, Glenn Phillips, Mayank Agarwal, and Abhishek Sharma. In bowling, Marco Jansen, T Natarajan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Pat Cummins are dangerous bowlers. However, SRH needs to come up with better teamwork in IPL 2024 to steal the trophy.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is among the most dominating teams in Indian Premier League. However, they have not grabbed the tag of IPL champions. RCB, who ended as runners-up three times, will aim for their first trophy in IPL 2024.

There is no doubt that RCB has a magnificent batting line-up with the likes of Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik, Cameron Green, and Rajat Patidar. However, they failed to grab big names in bowling during the IPL 2024 auction. Nevertheless, Mohammed Siraj, Reece Topley, Alzarri Joseph, and Lockie Ferguson are some bowlers RCB can bank upon in IPL 2024.

KL Rahul is a strong contender to lead the side and the franchise has powerful overseas players like Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, Kyle Mayers, Marcus Stoinis, Mark Wood, and Naveen-ul-Haq.

LSG has a strong batting and bowling unit. While foreign players comprise the core strength in batting, Indian players constitute their bowling might. In IPL 2024, the KL Rahul & Co. will aim to jump a little higher and steal the title.

Delhi Capitals gave a miserable show in the absence of their skipper Rishabh Pant last season. However, they will aim for a dashing comeback in IPL 2024. Rishabh Pant is all set to lead the side after recovering from an accident.

With David Warner, Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant, and Harry Brook in the batting department, DC has a decent line-up for batters. In the bowling department, Axar Patel, Anrich Nortje, Kuldeep Yadav, Lungi Ngidi, Khaleel Ahmed, and Mukesh Kumar add a lot of value.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) has failed to reach playoffs for the last few seasons in the Indian Premier League. Hence, they will aim for their first-ever title in IPL 2024. However, they need to first break the jinx of playoffs. PBKS has continuously failed to reach playoffs after ending as runners-up in IPL 2014.

Batters like Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Matthew Short, and Rilee Rossouw are key names for the franchise in batting. Arshdeep Singh, Sam Curran, Kagiso Rabada, Nathan Ellis, Rahul Chahar, and Harshal Patel are prominent names in the bowling zone.
