Delhi Capitals will begin their IPL 2025 campaign at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vizag. It is believed that Vizag will host two matches of Delhi Capitals just like last year.

Visakhapatnam, also known as Vizag, also hosted two games of Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024 and it will continue to do so this year as well. It means that Visakhapatnam will be the second home of Delhi Capitals again this year.

Delhi Capitals set to play two games at Vizag

According to Cricbuzz, the BCCI has retained Vizag as an IPL venue for this season as well. The exact dates and the opponents are yet to be announced but Delhi Capitals will start their IPL 2025 campaign on this ground.

The Capitals played two IPL games in Vizag last year, against Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. While they won the first match against CSK, they lost to the eventual champions KKR by a huge margin.

Vizag is known to be a high-scoring ground as it was evident last year as well. Kolkata Knight Riders scored a mammoth total of 272-7 after batting first and went on to win the match by more than 100 runs. It is likely to be a high-scoring one this time as well.

Three non-regular venues in IPL 2025

Vizag is one of the three non-regular venues for the IPL 2025 season, along with Dharamsala and Guwahati. Dharamsala has been picked to host some home games of Punjab Kings and Guwahati will host some of the home fixtures of Rajasthan Royals.

The games in Guwahati will be played on March 26 and 30, against Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings respectively. The overall dates and the fixtures are likely to be announced soon with the BCCI set to release the IPL 2025 fixtures on February 17 (Monday).

According to the reports, Punjab Kings will play three matches in Dharamsala, possibly against Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Royals Challengers Bengaluru. The scenic venue has produced some excellent games in IPL over the years and is well known for its high-scoring.

Who will be the next captain of Delhi Capitals?

Delhi Capitals is one of the two franchises left in the IPL not to have announced their captain so far. The Capitals have shortlisted a few names with the allrounder Axar Patel being the frontrunner but they also have KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis as the other options.

DC's regular captain Rishabh Pant wasn't retained ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. Pant was later signed up by Lucknow Super Giants for a record price of INR 27 crore, the most for any player in the history of IPL.

The Capitals finished sixth in the points table in IPL 2024 with 7 wins and 7 defeats. They were among the four teams in the season to finish with 14 points but couldn't make it to the playoffs due to poor net run rate.
