IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals in shock as KL Rahul's availability remains uncertain

With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 done and dusted, all focus is shifted to the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which is set to kickstart on March 22. The defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will face each other in the IPL 2025 opener at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Delhi Capitals face uncertainty as KL Rahul set to miss a couple of IPL 2025 games

Rahul is all set to be seen in action for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the upcoming IPL 2025 after parting ways with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), thanks to the infamous spat with the team owner Sanjiv Goenka on live TV after the team’s crushing defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

The Karnataka batter was snapped up by Delhi Capitals (DC) for INR 14 crores at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Rahul was Delhi’s most expensive purchase at the mega auction. He has so far played 132 matches in the IPL, amassing 4683 runs with the help of four centuries and 37 fifties.

However, there is uncertainty over Rahul’s availability for the start of the season. DC has already suffered a massive setback as England star Harry Brook pulled out of the IPL 2025, and now their woes are set to be worsened. Rahul will reportedly miss a couple of matches for Delhi.

KL Rahul set to welcome first child with Athiya Shetty

Actually, KL Rahul and his wife, Athiya Shetty, are set to welcome their first child in the summer of 2025. And to be with his wife at the time of his child’s birth, the right-handed batter could miss one or two fixtures for DC depending on the due date in the upcoming tournament.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2023, shared the news of their pregnancy in November last year. It is also being said that Rahul is in line to become Delhi Capitals’ new captain, with the announcement expected soon. However, Axar Patel is another frontrunner for DC’s captaincy.

Meanwhile, as reported by PTI, Delhi Capitals are gearing up for the upcoming IPL season with a short training and simulation camp in Delhi before heading to Visakhapatnam for their starting matches in the tournament.

KL Rahul to join DC squad in Delhi for simulation camp

DC’s key players like Axar Patel, Rahul, and Kuldeep Yadav will join the squad in the camp, along with overseas stars Tristan Stubbs, Jake Fraser-McGurk, and Mitchell Starc.

The DC team is expected to assemble in Visakhapatnam on March 17 and 18 as they finalize preparations for the tournament. They will kick off their campaign against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on March 24 at the ACA International Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

Delhi will also play their next game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the same venue in Visakhapatnam on March 30.
