Karun Nair has been in exceptional form recently in domestic cricket. The 33-year-old batter has made headlines through his stunning numbers in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy where he single-handedly took his team to the final.

Due to his rich vein of form, the selectors were forced to discuss about him in India's squad for Champions Trophy selection. However, he didn't get a chance. But Karun Nair hasn't lost hope and is looking forward to the IPL 2025 season where he will represent Delhi Capitals.

The talented batter has high hopes from the league where his primary focus will be to get into the Playing XI. He is confident about making it count once he gets an opportunity to play in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

Karun Nair speaks on his wonderful form

While speaking to Wisden, Karun Nair opened up about his recent form where he is scoring runs for fun. He claims to have made slight adjustments to his technique but feels that the main reason for his success is the confidence to play good shots on a frequent basis.

"I've made a few adjustments to the way I play. Not as much as the shots that I play, I think I've played the same kind of shots throughout my career," Nair said.

"It's just about being confident to being able to play those shots more frequently or being able to execute those shots. So, just focused on execution and being confident enough to play those particular shots," he added.

Karun Nair breaks silence on his IPL hopes

When asked about his IPL comeback, Karun Nair claimed that it is difficult to make a comeback once a player goes off the radar. He is looking to find a way to get into the Playing XI first and is confident in his abilities.

"I've played quite a few IPLs and I think I was part of every single XI probably close to 5 years in a row. What I tell myself is I think sometimes it's difficult once you go off the radar, sometimes it's difficult for you to get back into that XI," Nair observed.

"So, for me at the moment, it's just about finding a way to get back into that XI and then I'm sure with the skill set I possess, I can do well for whichever team that I play for and contribute to the team winning," the 33-year-old added.

Karun Nair in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25

Karun Nair recently had an excellent Vijay Hazare Trophy where he amassed 779 runs in 9 matches at a staggering average of 389.50 and a strike rate of 124.04. He smashed five hundreds in the tournament which included four consecutive hundreds.

However, it wasn't enough for him to find a way back into India's squad for the Champions Trophy. He will be seen in the second leg of Ranji Trophy where he will be aiming to take Vidarbha to glory.

After the Ranji Trophy, Nair will be in action for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025. Notably, DC will likely be captained by Axar Patel or KL Rahul. He was signed up by the franchise for INR 50 lakh in the IPL 2025 mega auction. With the form he is in, he can turn out to be a huge bonus for the Capitals.
