Team India fast bowlers Mayank Yadav and Harshit Rana are likely to make their international debuts in the first T20I of the three-match series against Bangladesh.
Mayank Yadav and Harshit Rana could receive their first caps under captain Suryakumar Yadav, according to reports from the Indian Express.
Team India is currently in a transition period following the retirements of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja in the T20I format.
The Suryakumar Yadav-led team secured a 3-0 victory in the recent three-match T20I series. The Indian team will host the three-match T20I series, starting on October 6.
Jasprit Bumrah And Mohammed Siraj Rested For Bangladesh T20Is
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were rested for the T20I matches against Bangladesh. Harshit Rana and Mayank Yadav received call-ups from the selection committee in the absence of seniors. One or both of these players are expected to make their debut in the series opener.
Harshit played a crucial role in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) victory in the IPL 2024 season. On the other hand, Mayank gained attention with his ability to bowl regularly at speeds of 150 km/h while playing for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the recent Indian Premier League season.
Mayank Yadav Received Maiden Call-Up From Team India
Harshit Rana was part of the squad that traveled to Zimbabwe for the T20I series after the T20 World Cup 2024 victory. However, the right-arm fast bowler did not make his debut during that series. With Gautam Gambhir as head coach, Rana could be provided a chance in the upcoming home series.
Mayank received his first call-up following a rehabilitation period for his injury. He is regarded as a promising talent in Indian cricket at the moment. The tearaway fast bowler will reunite with his Lucknow Super Giants bowling coach, Morne Morkel, who has joined Gautam Gambhir's coaching staff.
I See Three Fast Bowlers Playing - Aakash Chopra
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra was asked about Mayank's debut in the India-Bangladesh series. Chopra said that the Indian team should include all three fast bowlers, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and Mayank Yadav, in the playing XI.
"Ideally, he should be playing. For him to play, I see three fast bowlers playing because in the pecking order, it's Arshdeep, Harshit Rana, and Mayank Yadav. I see Mayank Yadav playing, all three fast bowlers. Unleash some pace and see how it happens," Chopra said.
The first T20 between India and Bangladesh will be played at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Stadium on Sunday. This match is the return of international cricket to the Madhya Pradesh city after a 14-year absence. Sachin Tendulkar scored a historic double-century in the last game at this venue.
