Fans on Twitter reacted after former Australia National Cricket Team batter David Warner went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction. The second day of the auction is underway at the Jeddah in Saudi Arabia on Monday (25th November).
David Warner, who is one of the best players in the history of the IPL, didn't fetch any bidders. His name popped up on the Day 1 of the auction and he went unsold in the first round. It was expected that he would get picked in the accelerated round.
This was for the first time in the history of the IPL auction that David Warner didn't get any bids
But that wasn't the case as David Warner, yet again, didn't attract any bidders. This is the first time in the history of the IPL auction that the premier batter didn't get any bids. He represented Delhi Capitals in the last year but couldn't make a mark in the league and was benched.
David Warner, who has scored 62 fifties - the most by a player, is a legend in the league and is the leading run-getter in the IPL in terms of overseas players. He started his career with Delhi Capitals and then moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014.
David Warner played 184 games in the Indian Premier League
Warner captained the franchise and guided them to win in the IPL 2016 after Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final. Since 2022, the left-hander has been part of the Delhi Capitals and made decent contributions to the team and even captained them in 2023, when Rishabh Pant was ruled out.
David Warner going unsold in the IPL auction marks an end to an Era. He arguably was one of the best openers to have played in the league. He enjoyed massive success in the tournament and was one of the few players who was always on the orange cap list.
David Warner played 184 games in the Indian Premier League. He mustered 6565 runs at an average of over 40 and a strike rate of around 140. The opening batter slammed 62 half-centuries and 4 centuries in the league.

David warner is a IPL legend, only overseas batsmen with most runs in the tournament looking him going Unsold in two rounds hurts more, a 50(30) runs in any pitch is guaranteed.

David Warner finally going unsold really marks end of an era, also highlights that IPL teams have started maturing(albeit at snail's pace).

If this was few years ago, someone would have bought him and made him captain.
You can hate but you can't deny the greatness.
