IPL Points Table 2026: Updated Standings, Orange Cap, Purple Cap After MI vs RCB Match 20

The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, match no. 20 was between the two heavyweights, the Mumbai Indians (MI) hosting the defending champions, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. RCB beat MI by 18 runs. MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to field first.
The MI vs RCB clash brought in a lot of fans to the stadium to watch the clash between Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. Coming into the MI vs RCB clash, both teams made some changes. For RCB, Josh Hazlewood was dropped with Jacob Duffy, and Suyash Sharma came in for Abhinandan Singh.

MI also made two changes for the MI vs RCB match, as Deepak Chahar made way for Mayank Markande, and Allah Ghazanfar made way for New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner. Both teams came into this game after losing their previous match against the same opponent, the Rajasthan Royals. RCB had a brilliant start courtesy of Phil Salt and Virat Kohli.
Phil Salt was the aggressor between the two and was scoring at a strike rate of over 200. The English opener smacked three sixes in the fourth over to Mitchell Santner. RCB scored 71/0 off the power play and were in complete control. The English batter brought up his fifty in 25 balls. The two brought up the 100-run partnership in just 8.4 overs.
Salt was back in the dugout after scoring a well-made 78 and gave the start RCB needed in the game. Captain Patidar came in hard from the very first ball and never let the run rate down in the game. Kohli brought a half-century in 35 balls and was dismissed immediately after scoring the fifty.
The RCB skipper was dismissed on the score of 53 runs off 19 balls. Then Tim David scored 34 off 16 balls and helped RCB to post the highest ever total at the Wankhede of 240/4 at the end of 20 overs.
Coming out to chase, MI openers Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma started off firing from the first over. However, the latter had to go back after pulling up his hamstring as he was retired hurt on the score of 19 runs. After the good start, the momentum was broken for the five-time winners as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals.
Sherfane Rutherford was the highest run getter with a score of 71 and was unbeaten, and then skipper Hardik Pandya scored 40, and Rickelton scored 37, but it was not enough to chase a target of 241 runs. MI fell short by 19 runs.
Mumbai have now suffered a hat-trick of defeats in the IPL 2026 campaign. Below we have the updated points table after the MI vs RCB match.
