On Monday, May 19, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) hosted the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 61st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and chose to bowl first. The decision didn't prove good initially as Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram took the bowlers to the cleaners.
Mitchell Marsh slammed 65 runs off 39 balls while Aiden Markram hit 61 runs off 38 balls. Rishabh Pant, however, once again failed to do well, getting out for 7. From middle-order and lower-order, only Nicholas Pooran managed to play a good knock of 45 runs while the rest of the batters failed.
Lucknow Super Giants were restricted to 205/7 as Eshan Malinga (2/28), Harsh Dubey (1/44), Harshal Patel (1/49), and Nitish Kumar Reddy (1/28) picked up wickets for SRH.
Chasing the target, SRH lost Atharva Taide for 13, but Abhishek Sharma played a sensational knock of 59 runs off 20 balls, and he found good support from Ishan Kishan (35).
Heinrich Klaasen (47) and Kamindu Mendis (32) also chipped in with good contributions, and SRH completed the run chase in 18.2 overs to register a 6-wicket victory. With the loss in the match, Lucknow Super Giants got knocked out of the playoffs race.
