The 63rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 saw the battle between the Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Faf du Plessis-led Delhi Capitals (DC) on Wednesday, May 21, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bowl first in the match. They missed the services of skipper Axar Patel in the match as he was ill, and Faf du Plessis took over the leadership duties.

DC got off to a good start in the innings as Mustafizur Rahman, Mukesh Kumar, and Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Rohit Sharma (5), Will Jacks (21), and Ryan Rickelton (25) inside 7 overs.

Tilak Varma also walked back to the hut after playing a slow knock of run-a-ball 27 while Hardik Pandya chipped in with 3 runs. Most of the MI batters were struggling to score on a slow pitch, but Suryakumar Yadav displayed a batting masterclass.

Suryakumar Yadav slammed a sensational 73* runs off 43 balls, with 7 fours and 4 sixes. He found great support from Naman Dhir (24*off 8) as the duo blasted 48 runs in the last two overs to take MI to 180/5. For DC, Mukesh Kumar (2/48), Kuldeep Yadav (1/22), Mustafizur Rahman (1/30), and Dushmantha Chameera (1/54) were among the wickets.

Chasing the target, Delhi Capitals batters looked miserable against the dangerous Mumbai Indians bowling unit. They were bowled out for 121 in 18.2 overs as Sameer Rizvi (39) and Vipraj Nigam (20) emerged as the top two performers.

For MI, all the bowlers - Jasprit Bumrah (3), Mitchell Santner (3), Trent Boult (1), Deepak Chahar (1), Will Jacks (1), and Karn Sharma - picked up wickets.
