On the IPL 2025 resumption, Rajat Patidar-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) hosted the Ajinkya Rahane-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, May 17.
Ahead of the match, there were predictions for heavy rain, and the chances for a washout were very high. The toss was delayed due to continuous rain in the city, and after a lengthy delay, the decision was made to call off the match at 10:24 PM.
With this, the journey of the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders ended, and they officially got knocked out of the playoffs race, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru have all but booked their spot in the playoffs.

Before the 58th match of the IPL 2025, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru occupied the second spot on the points table with eight wins and three losses in 11 matches. They had 16 points and a Net Run Rate of 0.482.
