Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the 4 Time IPL winners had a forgettable IPL2022 where they finished in 9th position. MS Dhoni’s decision to quit captaincy for the edition didn’t go well as Ravindra Jadeja looked in all sorts of trouble as his game got affected. Later, MS Dhoni was reinstated as the captain but it was a bit too late when CSK was almost out of the playoffs.
With BCCI all set to introduce home and away venues for IPL 2023, there are chances that this could be MS Dhoni’s last season where he had mentioned that he wants to play a game in front of Chennai fans and would be hoping to sign off in a grand fashion.
CSK Set To Release Dwayne Bravo
CSK is most likely to release Dwayne Bravo ahead of the Auction. The flamboyant all-rounder scored only 23 runs in 6 innings and had taken 16 wickets in 10 matches in the 2022 IPL. He was brought at a price of 4.40 Crore in the auction. It looks like we have seen the last of Dwayne Bravo in IPL as he doesn’t have age on his side as currently, he is 39 years old.
Along with him, CSK may release Chris Jordan and Ambati Rayudu too. Both the cricketers had a mediocre tournament where Rayudu scored 274 runs in 13 matches whereas Jordan took two wickets in 4 matches. It looks like CSK wants a completely different unit for the 2023 edition.
Dwayne Bravo Invaluable
Bravo has been quite instrumental for CSK for a lot of years. Finding a like-for-like replacement for Bravo would be quite tough as the all-rounder was someone who would attain any sort of task for the team.
We had seen in the 2022 edition that Bravo was looking a bit off-color and tired. CSK may look to buy him at a cheap price which can’t be ruled out. Dwayne Bravo, though is seen playing in a lot of franchises around the world as the fans would be hoping that he plays for a couple of more years for the CSK franchise.
