IRE vs ZIM Head Head Records- Zimbabwe tour of Ireland 2024, One-Off Test

Ireland and Zimbabwe go head to head in a one-off Test match from July 25-29. The Test match will be played at the Civil Service Cricket Club, Belfast. The match starts at 3.15 pm across the five days. This Test match is not a part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25.

Zimbabwe are led by Craig Ervine. He has several experienced players on his side. The nation has been playing Test cricket since 1992 but still has not come to terms with the format. The Irish are ranked 11th in the ICC Test rankings while Zimbabwe is 10th.

Zimbabwe have already named their squad led by Evine. The squad will also be featuring veterans like Craig Ervine, Sean Williams, and Tendai Chatara. They have also included in-form players like Clive Madande, Joylord Gumbie, Brian Bennett, and Johnathan Campbell in their squad.

Ireland will be led by Andrew Bailbirnie who is their Test captain. Paul Stirling, their white-ball captain is also a part of the squad. Mark Adair, Lorcan Tucker, Curtis Campher, and Paul Stirling are a part of the squad. They have also added youngsters like Matthew Humphreys and Gavin Hoey.

Ireland last played in the T20 World Cup and they are returning to playing international cricket after almost a month-long break. Speaking about Test matches, Ireland's very first Test match was against Pakistan back in 2018.

They played matches against Pakistan, Afghanistan, England, and Bangladesh up until now. They lost every Test match between 2018-2023. Their very first Test win was against Afghanistan in a one-off Test match played in the UAE.

Zimbabwe have been playing Test cricket since 1992. They just have a handful of victories having played over 100 Test matches in total. They have lost almost 70-80 percent of their Test matches.

They lost their last three Test series against Pakistan, Bangladesh, and West Indies. They are not in the reckoning to play top-class Test sides at the moment like India, England, or Australia.

This is the very first game between the two sides and thus it is very difficult to predict a pattern this early. Both Zimbabwe and Ireland have played well against several top-class international teams. Both have favored playing against Pakistan and beating them in ICC events as well.
