Ireland Set To Play 3-Match T20I Series Against UAE In Dubai Ahead Of T20 World Cup 2021

Cricket Ireland has confirmed that Ireland’s Men team will go up against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of their preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup. They will also play against Scotland in a warm-up game during the lead-up to the ICC event.

The full fixtures for a period of 9 days were released by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) on Thursday morning. The schedule is part of the ‘DafaNews Summer T20 Blast’ – a series that comprises matches involving UAE, Ireland, Scotland, Papua New Guinea, and Namibia.

The broadcast details for the same are yet to be released by the ECB. The multi-nation ICC tournament is scheduled to begin on October 17 with the qualifiers taking place in Oman. The main event – the Super-12 stage – will start on October 23 in UAE.

Ireland squad will depart for the middle-east country tomorrow. They will undergo a mandatory quarantine period of 6 days in a hotel assigned to them. Once they complete the isolation period, they will be allowed to start training.

The Irish board announced a preliminary 18-man squad for the T20 World Cup. The size will be reduced to 15 for the big event while the remaining three players will join the squad as reserves. Andrew Balbirnie will lead the side with experienced campaigner, Kevin O’Brien, likely to help him out in the matches.
