Irfan Pathan unveils IPL 2025 Team of the Tournament; Jitesh Sharma, Shubman Gill snubbed

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has named his Team of the Tournament for the Indian Premier League 2025, following the rule of including seven Indian players, four overseas players, and one impact player. Pathan excluded names like Shubman Gill, Mitchell Marsh, and Kuldeep Yadav in his lineup.
The Indian Premier League 2025 ended with memorable performances from many players. After a long 17-year wait, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched their first-ever IPL championship on Tuesday, June 3. The Rajat Patidar-led team secured a thrilling six-run victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Irfan Pathan Picks His IPL 2025 Team of the Tournament
Irfan Pathan revealed his IPL 2025 Team of the Tournament on his X account (formerly known as Twitter). Pathan picked Sai Sudharsan and Virat Kohli as openers, with Jos Buttler slotted in at No. 3.
Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan secured the Orange Cap after a stellar season. The left-handed batter scored 759 runs in 15 innings at an average of 54 and a strike rate of 156, registering six fifties and a century. He also hit the most fours in the tournament.
Virat Kohli finished with 657 runs at an impressive average of 59. Notably, all eight of his half-centuries came in matches that RCB won. He was also the top scorer for the Bengaluru-based franchise in the summit clash.
Jos Buttler left the tournament after the group stage. Despite missing the playoffs, the England batter delivered consistently throughout the league phase. He scored 538 runs in 14 games, and his absence was felt in the crucial knockout stages.

Jitesh Sharma Snubbed from Irfan Pathan's IPL 2025 Team of the Tournament
Pathan picked Suryakumar Yadav as the No. 5 batter in his lineup. The batter ended the tournament as the second-highest run-scorer, amassing 717 runs at an average of 65. He set a new record with 16 scores of 25 or more in a single IPL season.
The cricketer-turned-commentator picked Heinrich Klaasen and Naman Dhir as finishers. He ignored players like Jitesh Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Tim David, and KL Rahul in the lineup. Klaasen scored 487 in 13 innings at an average of 44.27 and a strike rate of 172.70, including an unbeaten 105 against KKR.
Irfan Pathan named Krunal Pandya as the all-rounder in his team. Krunal made valuable contributions with both bat and ball. He took 17 wickets in 15 matches and scored 109 runs, including a 73-run knock. The veteran cricketer demonstrated his utility as a reliable all-round option for RCB.
Jasprit Bumrah Among Pacers in Irfan Pathan’s IPL 2025 Team of the Tournament
Irfan Pathan completed his IPL 2025 Team of the Tournament by selecting four specialist bowlers. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) spinner Noor Ahmad impressed with his sharp wicket-taking skills, taking 24 wickets in 14 matches.
Prasidh Krishna led the Gujarat Titans' bowling attack and won the Purple Cap with 25 wickets in 15 games. Jasprit Bumrah took 18 wickets in 12 matches after missing the initial games.
Josh Hazlewood picked up 22 wickets despite missing a few matches before rejoining the squad for the playoffs. He was made available for IPL even though he was included in Australia’s squad for the WTC 2025 final.
