Legendary India opener Sunil Gavaskar has slammed Pakistan's tactics of chopping and changing of captains regularly. Gavaskar asked the team management to give the captains enough time to produce better results.
Sunil Gavaskar also came out in support of the star Pakistan batter Babar Azam and backed him despite his poor form. Babar has endured a poor run with the bat recently across formats, which has raised questions over his stature as one of the best batters in the world.

Sunil Gavaskar takes a dig at Pakistan's tactics
Sunil Gavaskar lashed out at the Pakistan team management for not letting a captain settle down. He asked the management to give a captain enough time to prove his credentials instead of changing constantly.
"If you want to change captain after every tournament, then you should name a captain for each match beforehand. Is it a joke that you keep changing captain here and there? Give them time and let them make a strategy," Gavaskar was quoted as saying by ARY News.
Pakistan have a long history of not sticking to the same management and leadership for a long time. A no. of players have led the team in the last few years, but unfortunately, none of them have proved to be successful so far.
Mohammad Rizwan replaced Babar Azam as the team's white-ball captain last year after the latter stepped down from the role. He led the team to some memorable ODI series wins in Australia and South Africa, but the recent performance in the Champions Trophy has raised questions on his leadership as well.
Sunil Gavaskar backs Babar Azam
Sunil Gavaskar also backed Pakistan's star cricketer Babar Azam to come back into form soon. Gavaskar cited the example of Virat Kohli's loss of form and feels that Babar will also return amongst the runs soon.
"Virat Kohli also experienced a dip in his form but no one in Indian cricket said that he does not deserve a place in the team. Babar Azam is a class player. I don’t think anyone has scored more centuries for Pakistan than him," the former India opener added.
Babar Azam has been going through his worst phase of his cricket career. The star cricketer has struggled to get runs across formats, which has raised questions over his ability as well.
A few months ago, Babar was also dropped from Pakistan's Test team during the home series against England. He later returned to the Test side for the South Africa tour and struck 193 runs in 2 Tests at an average of 48.25.
Pakistan's disappointing Champions Trophy campaign
Pakistan suffered a humiliating exit from the group stage of the ongoing Champions Trophy after losing to New Zealand and India in their first two matches. It is the first ICC tournament in the country after a gap of 29 years.
However, their performance was below par in both the games as they were unable to match the might of their opponents. Their last match against Bangladesh was washed out due to rain, leaving them winless in the tournament. Pakistan finished last in Group A with just 1 point in three matches.
