Ishan Kishan lit up the Hyderabad skies with a fantastic hundred on his SRH debut in the match against Rajasthan Royals. It was a magnificent knock from the left-hander as he was severe on all the RR bowlers and ensured to take his team to a mammoth first innings total.

Ishan Kishan had played for Mumbai Indians for several years but wasn't retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Sunrisers Hyderabad saw the opportunity and pounced on it. They signed Kishan for INR 11.25 crore and he repaid their faith in his first game for the franchise.

Ishan Kishan on the difference between MI and SRH

After spending seven years with Mumbai Indians, Ishan Kishan was welcomed into a different team environment in Sunrisers Hyderabad. After the century, he lauded the team's openers for laying a solid base and also revealed the difference in team environments of MI and SRH.

"Just feel good. I was hoping for it (the century). The team is doing well, and its environment is very different. When Abhishek (Sharma) and (Travis) Head started the innings, they gave a lot of confidence to us batters. Credit goes to them also," Kishan told the broadcaster after the first innings.

"The pitch was really good, and we were just trying to get them under pressure. We need to be on point, just keep things simple. It's all about not panicking," Kishan said after the SRH's innings," he added.

After reaching his hundred, Kishan was clearly elated and celebrated his knock in some style. Batting at No. 3, he carried the momentum from Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma and didn't bother to slow down at any point.

Ishan Kishan breaks records

Kishan broke a few records after his memorable hundred against Rajasthan Royals. His century came off just 45 balls and it is the second-fastest hundred by an Indian player in the history of the IPL.

The 26-year-old is now joint-second with Mayank Agarwal, who had scored a 45-ball hundred while playing for Kings XI Punjab, also against the same opponent Rajasthan Royals. Yusuf Pathan tops the list with a 37-ball ton-way back in 2010.

  1. Yusuf Pathan: 37-ball hundred for RR vs MI in 2010
  2. Ishan Kishan: 45-ball hundred for SRH vs RR in 2025
  3. Mayank Agarwal: 45-ball hundred for KXIP vs RR in 2020
  4. Virat Kohli: 47-ball hundred for RCB vs KXIP in 2016
  5. Virender Sehwag: 48-ball hundred for DC vs Deccan Chargers in 2011

Sunrisers Hyderabad win the high-scoring game

Sunrisers Hyderabad scored the second-highest IPL total of all time on the back of Kishan's brilliant hundred. SRH scored 286-6 and just fell one run short of the highest team total in IPL history, which was also scored by them.

In response, Rajasthan Royals tried their best but still fell 44 runs short. RR scored 242-6 on the back of fifties from Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel. It was a high-scoring game in which the home team came up on top.
