Former RCB star Shreevats Goswami has commented on Saransh Jain getting his maiden call-up for the India National Cricket Team for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, with the first Test set to start on 15th August, 2026.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15-man squad on Tuesday early morning for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Saransh is getting his maiden call for the Men in Blue side at the age of 33 years. He has finally got his call after consistent performances in the Ranji Trophy over the years.

Virat Kohli’s ex-teammate Shreevats Goswami has posted on X (formerly Twitter) calling out the selection of Saransh. He questioned the selectors and the management for their late decision to pick the off-spinning bowling all-rounder in the Men in Blue squad. He believes that he could play for a maximum of 3 to 4 years in Test cricket.
Apart from that, he also credited the BCCI and the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for grooming the new young spinners and also developing batters for Test cricket, as he believes that India will see some new young spinners to play alongside Manav Suthar in the future.

Shreevats Goswami recalls his tweet about Saransh Jain
Previously, back in 2025, Goswami tweeted about Saransh, who was performing well for Madhya Pradesh in the Duleep Trophy, and stated about him bowling well and using the crease well while bowling, had a deceptive flight in his bowling, and also bowls well against right-hand batters.
Goswami stated in 2025, "Was watching a bit of duleep trophy finals between south & central zone. Always rated Saransh Jain as a off spinner. Uses the crease very well. Beats the batter in flight. Bowls well agaisnt right handers as well & his ball dips right before the batter. If India is looking for a off spinner. He’s your man!"
Saransh Jain recent form
Recently, Saransh Jain was part of the India A squad that played two unofficial Test matches against Sri Lanka A in late June and early July. He batted well in the second game, scoring 70* in the first innings.
While bowling, he picked up 7 wickets in two games, as in one game he picked 4/92. With recent experience playing in Sri Lanka, he will have a good knowledge of the conditions and how the pitch will behave, which can be an advantage for the Men in Blue side in the upcoming series.
