It Is A Great Honour For Me To Receive The Arjuna Award – Shikhar Dhawan

Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has said that it is a great honour for him to receive the Arjuna Award from the President of India Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Shikhar Dhawan who made his debut for India in 2010 has had a remarkable journey in cricket so far. He made his Test debut in 2013 and smashed a century in the debut match itself and so far he has represented India in 34 Tests and has scored 2315 runs at an average of 40.61 including 7 centuries.

He has played 145 One Day International games and has scored 6015 runs at an average of 45.55 including 17 hundred. Also, he has played 67 T20 International games for India and has scored 1759 runs.

However, he is no longer a regular member of Team India in Tests and T20 Internationals. He last played Test for India in 2018 and is not being picked for T20 Internationals despite his terrific run in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Recently, he was not selected in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 squad and was unable to make it to the T20I squad picked for the New Zealand series at home. However, he is expected to retain his ODI opening slot in the upcoming India tour of South Africa.

Meanwhile, Along with Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, a total of 35 Indian athletes have been awarded the Arjuna Award.

After being awarded Arjuna Award Shikhar Dhawan took to Instagram to thank everyone who supported him in the journey including his family, friends and the BCCI. He stated:

“Arjuna award receive karna mere liye bohot sammaan ki baat hai. Mai unn sabhi logon ka dhanyawad karna chahta hu jo iss safar mein mere saath khade rahe – mere coaches, doctors, support staff, BCCI, teammates, sabhi fans, mere doston aur mera parivar. ( It is a great honour for me to receive the Arjuna Award. I would like to thank all the people who stood by me in this journey – the coaches, doctors, support staff, BCCI, teammates, all the fans, my friends and my family)

Shikhar Dhawan further added:

“Aap sabhi ke pyaar aur saath ke bina ye possible nahi ho pata. Ye ek bohot hi unbelievable feeling hoti hai Jab aapka hard work acknowledge kara jaata hai aur mai sab logo ke liye apna Bohot bohot abhaar vyakt karna chahta hu. ??
