Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Nitish Rana opened up about his international debut against Sri Lanka two years ago on Twitter on Sunday, July 23. Nitish Rana expressed his hope to get another chance to represent the national team in international cricket “very soon”.

Nitish Rana made his international debut in an ODI game against Sri Lanka in 2021, during India’s second-string team’s visit. The left-handed batter also made his debut in the short format of the game on the same tour. He played for India in one ODI game and two T20Is.

Nitish Rana Snubbed By BCCI For Asian Games 2023

The 29-year-old was named interim captain of the KKR franchise ahead of the IPL 2023. The southpaw had a career-best season, scoring 413 runs with an average of 31.77 and a strike rate of 140.96. He led the team to seventh place at the table in the absence of Shreyas Iyer.

Despite performing well in the last edition of the cash-rich league, the batter didn’t get a call-up from the national team for the upcoming Asian Games. The selectors picked a second-string team as the tournament’s schedule clashes with the ODI World Cup 2023 at home.
