England National Cricket Team pacer Ollie Robinson has dropped shocking comments on the sudden retirement of Ben Stokes from international cricket. He, who is trying to make a comeback into the squad once again after missing the last two Test matches that England played, believes that he was gutted after the sudden retirement of the former England captain.
Ollie Robinson believes that it was a shock for everyone when he announced his retirement in between the third Test match against the New Zealand National Cricket Team at Trent Bridge. The decision came after he was suspended from the second Test match for breaching the team curfew and getting involved in a physical altercation.

Ollie Robinson said (as quoted by i Paper), that he loved playing under Ben Stokes and also the former Test head coach Brendon McCullum, as he feels that the former Kiwi captain did not provide the results, but under them he had a great time. Robinson last played in the first Test match against the Kiwis after two years.
“I think we were all a bit shocked really when he did retire,” Robinson said.
“I was gutted because I loved playing under him and with him. And now Baz [has gone]. Obviously, he’s said he didn’t get the results he wanted but those two at the top were great to play under.

Robinson also stated that the sudden retirement of Ben Stokes was a shame for the England National Cricket Team and also the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) with the way they treated Ben Stokes post the nightclub controversy. He cited an example of Chris Silverwood, who was his first coach when he made his debut in the Ashes, as it was the latter’s last game.
“It’s a shame but I think it happens, doesn’t it, in English cricket? My first Ashes was Chris Silverwood’s last [as coach in 2021-22]. You just have those cycles where you get a change and you go again.”
Why did Ben Stokes retire early?
Ben Stokes called an end to his glorious career right after he came back from suspension in the second Test match, as he, along with Gus Atkinson, were dropped from the second match following a physical altercation in a nightclub with a former Rugby player.
The two were involved in breaching the curfew, which had consequences as they were suspended from the national team. During the 4th Day of the Test match, Stokes, during the break, announced his retirement in front of his teammates and thanked everyone for their support.

Ollie Robinson is trying to make a comeback to the side after his knee soreness, which left him out of the two Test matches against the Kiwis. He has featured in two games for Sussex in T20 matches at the end of June and, after almost a month off, a One-Day Cup match against Essex at Arundel on Wednesday. England plays Pakistan on August 19.
“At the start of the season I wasn’t expecting to get back into the England squad,” Robinson said. “I knew I had a bit of work to do to get back to where I wanted to be, so I took a little four-week block to work on body fitness and get a bit stronger.
“There was a lot more running, bike sessions. I’ve been working closely with England on that. They’ve set a programme for me and a schedule to follow. It’s been good.
