BCCI recently announced Squads for New Zealand and Bangladesh Tours. In these squads, the selection panel has named youngsters and has managed the workload of senior cricketers. Shubman Gill has received the maiden T20I Call for the New Zealand T20I Series.

The batter would be thrilled as he has been piling on runs. He had good West Indies and Zimbabwe tours where he was playing according to the situation. It looks like the senior selection panel wants Shubman Gill as a 3-format player.

Shubman Gill On Getting Selected

Shubman Gill was seen interacting with Oneindia Bangla and was asked about his selection in the T20I format against New Zealand. “Very happy with my selection in the T20I squad for the tour of New Zealand. It is always a big motivation when you get to play for any Indian side and I am looking forward to it,” said Shubman Gill.

Shubman Gill a Complete Cricketer

Shubman has shown that he can change his gears according to the situation. The right-handed batter had a pretty good season with Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2022 where he scored 483 runs in 16 matches. The batter was quite instrumental in GT’s maiden triumph.

Shubman Gill though will have to work on his strike rate. It won’t be wrong to say that he is more suited to the red ball cricket as he needs time to get his eye in. If given a chance, it would be interesting to see how he fares in New Zealand where conditions would be quite alien.
