It's Always Two-Way Street! Shikhar Dhawan On Communication With Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid

Shikhar Dhawan spoke about his communication with the head coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma. He said that he always has good communication with both of them and they always discuss and consult with each other.

Shikhar Dhawan is the vice-captain of India in ODIs. The left-handed batsman also leads the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma. Recently, he led the team in the ODI series against West Indies, where India crushed West Indies 3-0 in the three-match series.

I Speak To Rohit Sharma As He is The Main Leader: Shikhar Dhawan

While speaking to PTI, Shikhar Dhawan said that Rohit Sharma is the main leader and he always discusses and consults with him. He also said that communication is always a two-way street between him and coach Rahul Dravid.

“Obviously, I speak to Rohit (Sharma) as he is the main leader. So when it comes to continuity, you need to discuss and consult with him. Team’s vision is paramount for all of us. It’s always a two-way street between captain and coach, and same is the case between me and Rahul bhai,” Dhawan said.

Dhawan also mentioned that during team meetings, everyone is given the freedom to express their opinions and then we decide what’s best for the team.

“Whatever decision is taken is a collective one. In meetings, every individual is given freedom to express his opinion and once we get multiple opinion, we come together and decide what’s best. In this way, you empower people to think and at the same time decide what’s best for the team,” Dhawan further said.

Shikhar Dhawan only plays for the team in ODIs but he is a regular member in the format. He also leads the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma and plays as an opener. The 36-year-old will lead the team in a forthcoming ODI series against Zimbabwe.

India’s tour of Zimbabwe 2022 commences on August 18. A total of 3 ODI games will be played during the tour. The India vs Zimbabwe ODIs are set to take place on August 18, 20, and 22.
