It's Been A Reasonably Lean Patch, Been Through That Plenty Of Times - Aaron Finch Ahead Of SL Series

Australian white-ball skipper Aaron Finch downplayed the lack of runs under his belt and said he has been through such dry spells many times but has also found his way out of it.
Finch was below par in the T20 World Cup held in UAE last year averaging just 19.29 in seven matches. Fortunately, he has more than enough time to rediscover his form before Australia defends its title at home this October.
“Just get some more runs. It’s been a reasonably lean patch. I’ve been through that plenty of times in my career. At times, you go through stages where you get a heap of runs in a hurry and then go through some lean patches.”

“With such a busy schedule of cricket, there’s a lot of time to be able to build and I suppose to get back into the groove of one-day cricket especially,” Finch was quoted as saying in a chat with ESPNcricinfo.
Aaron Finch’s issues against the moving ball
Finch is known to struggle against pacers who can swing the ball, particularly left-armers, and the 35-year-old is actively looking to find ways to tackle the same. Surviving the initial stage where the white ball moves is Finch’s main goal.
“When you’re worried about the ball swinging back into your front pad, you can tend to open up which then has a bit of a flow-on effect.
“So it’s just trying to get back to a little bit more square and making sure that I’m giving myself every chance to get through the first five or six balls and then in T20 or ODIs you can sort of flow on from that,” he added.

The Aussies will play 3 T20Is and 5 ODIs on their Sri Lankan tour starting next month. Finch is unsure about the conditions that will be welcoming them.
“Not knowing what we’re going to get conditions-wise for the T20s, I think Colombo and Kandy are so different.
“I think we’ve got to be flexible and adaptable and making sure that when we get to the World Cup that we’ve got plenty of options that we can go with,” he also added.
