Australia allrounder Mitchell Marsh has been facing the heat from Indian fans for putting his feet on the World Cup trophy. Australia thrashed Team India by six wickets in the World Cup final to clinch their sixth title.

After the game, Mitchell Marsh became the center of attention when a photo capturing his celebration of the triumph went viral for all the wrong reasons. In the photo, the Australia star was seen posing by resting both of his legs on the World Cup trophy. His actions did not go well with the fans who slammed him and accused him of being disrespectful to the prestigious trophy.

Mohammed Shami also expressed his disappointment over Mitchell Marsh’s action, saying: “I am hurt. The trophy for which all the teams in the world fight, the trophy which you want to lift over your head, keeping a foot on that trophy did not make me happy.”

Mitchell Marsh reacts to criticism:

Mitchell Marsh has finally reacted to the big controversy surrounding his celebration. The Australia allrounder has come up with a brilliant reaction, making it clear that he has no regrets over his actions.

“It’s got a bit of legs that photo, hasn’t it? Pardon the pun,” Mitchell Marsh was quoted as saying by The Daily Mail.

Talking about his performance, the allrounder played a key role in Australia’s triumphant campaign. He scored 441 runs in 10 games at an average of 49. He also hit two centuries and one half-century. Only David Warner scored more runs for Australia in the ODI World Cup.

As far as Mohammed Shami is concerned, the right-arm pacer finished the World Cup as the highest wicket-taker despite not playing the first four games. In 7 games, he picked up a staggering 24 wickets with the help of 3 five-wicket hauls that included a 7-fer in the semifinal against New Zealand.

India and Australia are currently involved in a five-match T20I series although neither Shami nor Marsh is participating. India are leading the series after winning the first two games.
