Australia limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch hopes for Cricket Australia to allow their families to travel with the players. Most cricket boards have not permitted the players to take their families along with them due to the COVID-19 related restrictions. Aaron Finch understands the challenges involved for the cricketers being away from their families; however, he has not offered a timeline on when will be allowed.

Aaron Finch will head for the West Indies with 19 other members to participate in three ODIs and five T20Is, followed by five more T20 internationals in Bangladesh. The men in yellow would be without David Warner and Pat Cummins – both of who have opted out to be with their families. On the other hand, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and Kane Richardson will skip the visits due to various personal reasons.

When asked if the cricketers’ families would be allowed soon to travel with them, Aaron Finch said he does not have an answer for it now and understands it needs consideration. The Australian opener revealed speaking to David Warner about the same and highlighted that he is at the stage of his life where spending without kids for months would be difficult.

“I don’t have the answer for you but it’s something that needs to be looked at. I remember speaking to Davey Warner about it during his IPL stint. His kids are at an age where they understand how long time is …when you have kids crying on FaceTime, it doesn’t make it easy,” Finch said quoted as saying by Australian Associated Press.

Aaron Finch understands the risks he is currently taking by being away from his family while his wife might give birth. Finch sarcastically reckoned it might be a Facetime birth.

“They’re the risks you take. She wasn’t too keen on me going and if she happens to give birth a bit early, we might be in some trouble… it might be a FaceTime birth, I don’t know,” he added.
