Indian Cricket’s one of many forgotten and outcast batters, Shikhar Dhawan who last appeared in India colors back in December 2022 against Bangladesh in an ODI match, wrote a long and heartfelt note to his son Zoravar, wishing him a very Happy Birthday through Social media platform Instagram.

Dhawan and his estranged wife Aesha Mukherji who is originally from Australia, were granted Divorce by the Delhi High Court earlier this year in October. Their personal life made a lot of headlines and it was on the forefront for a long time.

Upon their divorce, Shikhar Dhawan was not granted custody of his son Zoravar who turns 9 years old today. Despite not getting custody, it was assured to the left-hand batter that he would be given permission to meet his son within a restricted time limit, however, Dhawan while writing Zoravar’s birthday note, claimed that he has been blocked from everywhere and doesn’t have the access to meet him.

The 38-year-old revealed a lot of things in that note, including the fact that he has not seen his son face-to-face for more than a year and sadly claimed that the only he can connect with him is through telepathy. Shikhar Dhawan also advised Zoravar to remain mischievous but not destructive which could also be a cryptic dig at his ex-wife Aesha.

“It’s been a year since I saw you in person, and now, for almost three months, I’ve been blocked from everywhere so Posting the same picture to wish you, my boy, a very Happy Birthday. Even if I can’t connect with you directly, I connect with you through Telepathy. I am so proud of you, and I know you’re doing great and growing up nicely.” – Dhawan wrote.

“Papa always misses you and loves you. He’s always positive, waiting with a smile for the time when we will meet again by the Grace of God. Be naughty but not destructive, be a giver, be humble, compassionate, patient, and strong.” – Dhawan added

“Despite not seeing you, I write you messages almost every day, asking about your well-being and daily life, sharing what I’m doing and what’s new in my life. Love you loads Zora ❤️ Papa.” – Shikhar Dhawan concluded.

Will Shikhar Dhawan Revive His Career Following Major Setbacks?

Back in 2013, Shikhar Dhawan announced himself on the International scene with a terrific bang through a Test century which was the fastest by a debutant. Though his ODI debut was 3 years before it, 2013 was well and truly the break-out year for Dhawan.

Followed by a terrific 187 on Test debut, Dhawan quickly became a starter for MS Dhoni‘s India on all 3 formats, forming a lethal opening pair with current India captain Rohit Sharma. His contribution during India’s 2013 ICC Champions Trophy was immense as he finished as the highest run-getter with 363 runs in 5 innings including 2 Centuries to his name.

Shikhar Dhawan was awarded with the player of the tournament as India defeated England by 5 runs in a rain-marred, 20-over Final in Birmingham. He also played a key role in India’s 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup campaign where they lost to Australia in the semi-final.

But ever since 2019, Dhawan slowly fell down the pecking order as he was overlooked by selectors for youngster Shubman Gill. His last appearance for India came over a year ago and his International comeback realistically looks far from happening.
