England spinner Jack Leach expressed his hope to make his international comeback during the five-match Test series against India next year. Jack Leach highlighted that he will be part of the England squad for the India tour next year if everything goes according to plan.

Jack Leach sustained a back injury during the one-off Test against Ireland ahead of the Ashes 2023 series. The left-arm spinner was subsequently ruled out of the entire Test series against Australia at home. Moeen Ali came out of retirement and replace Leach in the team.

Stokesy Gave Us A Chat After The Ireland Game – Jack Leach

Speaking to BBC Radio 5, Jack Leach stated that he is looking forward to playing in Indian conditions, saying that he is physically fit enough to bowl.

“If everything goes to plan with my rehab and I’m bowling well enough to be selected then physically, I should be ready to go. That’s what we’re aiming for and if I get on that tour then I’ll be really looking forward to it,” Leach said.

“It’s on its way to healing and I’ve got another scan in a few weeks. Stokesy gave us a chat after the Ireland game telling us that the Ashes aren’t the end of the journey, there is more to come after that that we want to achieve,” he added.

Leach made a strong impression with his bowling during their last tour of India in 2021, claiming 18 wickets in four Test matches at an average of 28.72. Overall, he picked up a total of 124 scalps in 35 Test matches.

Felt A Little Bit Of Stiffness In My Back – Jack Leach

The 33-year-old revealed that he sensed signs of an injury during a first-class match and realized its severity after delivering the very first ball against Ireland.

“It was probably a couple of weeks before, in my last game for Somerset, that I felt a little bit of stiffness in my back – no real pain but just stiff and I thought it was just me worrying about my fitness before a big series.

In the lead-up to the Ireland game, in training, I was still a bit stiff and as soon as I bowled in the game it turned to really sharp pain in my right-hand side and I knew that it wasn’t good.”

The England National Cricket Team levelled the Ashes 2023 series at 2-2 with a victory in the fifth and final Test at the Oval. However, Australia retained the Ashes series title as the winners of the previous series.
