New Zealand All-rounder James Neesham has revealed his thought process after his efforts in the game with both bat and ball helped the hosts to defeat Australia in the 2nd T20. Neesham’s last over was the turning point in the game where he stopped the visitors from scoring 15 runs and remembered the same equation which he got in the World Cup 2019 super over.

Earlier in the day, Martin Guptill‘s 97 and Neesham’s 45(16) propelled the total to a mammoth score of 219 for New Zealand on the board. Australia did not start well in the run chase, but Marcus Stoinis and Daniel Sams put up a great fight and almost took their side over the line. Eventually, Australia fell short by just 4 runs and Neesham bowled a superb 20th overtaking two important wickets giving away just 10 runs.

“I Wondered How The World Cup Would Come Up Today” – James Neesham

James Neesham on the verge of bowling the final over for New Zealand had wondered about the same equation he got in the world cup. He added that it wasn’t wise to think about the World Cup final while going to bowl the final delivery. Neesham was keen to keep it simple and nail his yorkers which eventually helped his team’s cause and got the hosts a lead of 2-0 in the 5-match T20 internationals.

“It was the exact equation, was it? I wondered how the World Cup would come up today,” Jimmy Neesham said.

“That would’ve been nice. But no, I didn’t know about that at the time, it’s not something you really think about, you’re probably in a little bit of trouble if you’re at the top of your mark thinking about the World Cup final when you’re trying to bowl the last ball of a T20, but I was just trying to keep it simple and bowl yorkers.” James Neesham said.

“Never loved it more,” Neesham added.

Neesham Hopes To Enjoy More Success With Ish Sodhi

James Neesham revealed that he and leg spinner Ish Sodhi have been discussing their pathway and obstacles they faced to reach the point they have attained now. He told about how they enjoy each other’s success and hoped to take it for longer periods.

“I had dinner with (Black Caps leg spinner) Ish Sodhi and we talked about how we’ve both come through some trials and tribulations and he’s obviously had his issues with his action and he was obviously coming through them at the same time.

“We’ve played a lot of cricket together and spent a lot of time together and we were just sort of talking about how much we’ve enjoyed each other’s success and hopefully it can continue for more years yet.”
