Star India allrounder Ravindra Jadeja has picked England great James Anderson as the greatest of all time among fast bowlers instead of modern-day greats like Jasprit Bumrah and Pat Cummins.

James Anderson is currently playing his final international match of his career against West Indies at Lord's, London. With Anderson's retirement, it will mark an end to a 21-year-old Test career, in which he has made remarkable achievements.

Ravindra Jadeja picks James Anderson as the 'GOAT' of fast bowling

In his Instagram story, Ravindra Jadeja posted a picture of James Anderson and made an emoji of 'GOAT' with claps in the caption. Jadeja and Anderson have been involved in some heated battles in the past.

Previous altercation between James Anderson and Ravindra Jadeja

During India's tour of England in 2014, both Anderson and Jadeja were involved in a verbal spat in the first Test of the series in Nottingham. An ultra-aggressive James Anderson came face-to-face with Ravindra Jadeja and repeatedly used the 'F' word. MS Dhoni, India's captain was also involved in the spat. The English fast bowler had also threatened to smash Jadeja's teeth back then.

Both were involved in a physical altercation in the corridor on their way to their respective dressing rooms with Anderson allegedly pushing Jadeja in the back while using obscene language. According to the reports, the England seamer kept abusing Jadeja in the corridor before pushing him.

However, the duo seemed to have buried their differences as Jadeja hailed Anderson as the greatest of all time.

This wasn't the only time when James Anderson has been involved in some kind of a verbal spat with Indian cricketers. He has also been involved with Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravichandran Ashwin before. Most recently, Anderson was involved in a war of words with India's latest batting sensation Shubman Gill during England's tour of India in 2024.

James Anderson to retire as most successful fast bowler in Tests

James Anderson will retire as one of the greatest fast bowlers to have played the game of cricket. The 41-year-old is playing his 188th Test match currently and picked up 703 wickets so far at an average of 26.47.

He has picked up 32 five-wicket hauls in an innings and 3 ten-wicket hauls in a match. His outstanding records make him the third most successful bowler in Test cricket in terms of wickets, just behind Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne.

Anderson is by far the most successful fast bowler in Test cricket. His long-time new-ball partner Stuart Broad is second on the list and is almost 100 wickets behind Anderson.

Alongside Tests, Anderson has also played 194 ODIs for England and picked up 269 wickets at an average of 29.22. He played his last ODI in the 2015 ODI World Cup against Afghanistan in Sydney.

Since then, England adopted an aggressive style for the shorter formats which meant that Anderson was preferred only for Test cricket. James Anderson's skills to swing the ball both ways are a treat to watch and will be missed.
