India is playing their first Test of the five-match series against England at Leeds. Jasprit Bumrah is once again the talisman of the Indian pace attack and has lived up to expectations.
Indian batters did a fairly good job as they posted 471 runs in the first innings, and in return, the Englishmen were bowled out for 465, with Bumrah picking up a 14th five-wicket haul in his Test career. Bumrah will once again be in action in the fourth innings at Leeds.
The visitors went into the second innings with a 6-run lead, and Bumrah finished with figures of 5/83 despite a pile of missed opportunities, proving his dominance with the red ball. Jasprit Bumrah has often been praised for his pace bowling skills, but his consistency has drawn the attention of former Indian coach Ravi Shastri, under whom Bumrah made his Test debut.

Ravi Shastri lauds Jasprit Bumrah, drawing comparisons to veterans
After this commendable performance, former Indian coach Ravi Shastri has issued an audacious statement in an attempt to praise Bumrah.
“There is no question he is India's greatest fast bowler. I played with Kapil Dev but this guy is different. He can take any opposition apart, on any surface, in any format." said Shastri.
Bumrah is undoubtedly one of the greatest players to have played the gentleman's game, but levelling him up beyond the greatness of veteran Kapil Dev, Shastri has given Bumrah an esteem far too far apart.
This was not the end to Bumrah's praises as the former Indian coach went on to praise his ability to read a batter's mind. He has drawn a comparison of the Indian speedster to former West Indies great Malcolm Marshall.
"I thought Malcolm Marshall was the best I saw in reading a batter and setting him up but this guy is not far behind. When he is swinging the new ball, it becomes hard for any batter in the world to counter him, what with the action and the late release,” said Shastri.
Jasprit Bumrah has equalled Kapil Dev's away Record in Tests
Jasprit Bumrah has been named the greatest ever modern-day Indian pacer, and he has often been compared to the great Kapil Dev. Bumrah has now equalled Kapil Dev's record for most five-wicket hauls in away Tests.
Both Bumrah and Kapil Dev now have 12 five-wicket hauls in away tests, though the current Indian pacer has played just 34 matches compared to veteran Kapil Dev's 66 matches.
Jasprit Bumrah's finest record in SENA countries
Jasprit Bumrah, with this 5-wicket haul against England at Headingley, has now become the player with the most five-fers in the history of the ICC World Test Championship. With this record, he surpasses Pat Cummins, who has 10 five-wicket hauls.
Bumrah now has 150 wickets in SENA countries, the most by an Asian bowler, as he surpassed the likes of Wasim Akram, who had 146 wickets in SENA nations. Bumrah now also has 10 five-wicket hauls, levelling the record of Wasim Akram and Lasith Malinga.
