Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan lavished rich praise on India pacer Jasprit Bumrah for his sensational performance in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 against South Africa. He said that the fast bowler is above Wasim Akram in terms of the best bowlers in the world.

The main hero of India's triumph in the T20 World Cup 2024 was the premier pacer, Jasprit Bumrah. The fast bowler looked a class apart in the entire tournament and it was because of him that India remained undefeated in the entire tournament.

Jasprit Bumrah stepped up big time for his team in the games of the T20 World Cup 2024 and made sure that he put his team in the winning positions even in the games where the situation was tough. The fast bowler was magnificent as he seemed unplayable and by far was the best bowler in the tournament.

In the final against South Africa, Jasprit Bumrah oozed his class and made sure that he took his team off to a flying start with the ball. He removed Reeza Hendricks with the peach and then in the death overs bowled sensationally well, removing Marco Jansen as well.

Overall in the T20 World Cup 2024, Jasprit Bumrah picked 15 wickets from eight matches at an average of 8.26. He had a sensational economy of just 4.17, the lowest in any edition of a T20 World Cup, and his heroics earned him the Player of the Tournament award.

Michael Vaughan while talking about Jasprit Bumrah hailed him as a great bowler and pointed out how the pacer got two crucial wickets in the final. Speaking to Cricbuzz about the same, he elaborated:

"He is obviously a great bowler who plans to ball against all the different batters but you still got to have the skill sets and you've got to know when to bowl which delivery. That first one to Reeza Hendricks is an absolute peach. He's probably angled in probably going on to hit the leg stump and at the last minute it whips away and hits the off stump.

"That ball that gets Jansen again just angled in it through the gate but it's more than that. It's the other deliveries that you know the batters are trying to hit him and he just kind of follows them so they don't get any width and then he sees them get a little bit of kind of room and he throws it out a bit wider he's got that slower ball that's a genius delivery. I honestly think he's the best seam bowler who has played white ball cricket."

He's a genius - Michael Vaughan on Jasprit Bumrah

Michael Vaughan further stated that rated Jasprit Bumrah even higher than Wasim Akram and claimed that the fast bowler performs in almost every game. While pointing out how the fast bowler removed Travis Head in his second game against Australia, the former England international stated:

"If you can tell me a better seam bowler. I know Wasim Akram was special and there have been many others to mention but I just think he's got this amazing action ability and he's got the pace, he's got all the different skill sets and he does it under pressure day in and day out. It's not just two or three times at the World Cup. it's pretty much every single game.

"Even in the game against Australia, he got hit. Travis Head had hit him in the first over in the powerplay, but he still came back to win India the game because he got Head with the slower ball later in the game. So even if you get him in one over, he's still got three to get you with. How are you facing him, how are you trying to hit him around I've got no idea because I've seen many try it and there are not many that are succeeding. He's a genius," he concluded.
