Jasprit Bumrah underwent back surgery in Christchurch, and according to press reports from New Zealand, both the surgery and the cricket player are doing well. The surgery was performed by Dr Rowan Schouten, a famous orthopaedic surgeon linked to the Forte Orthopaedics Hospital in Christchurch.

Jasprit Bumrah, who has been sidelined since September of last year, is recovering well and is close to making a full recovery, according to sources in New Zealand who have corroborated the news.

BCCI To Directly Handle Any Queries Regarding Jasprit Bumrah

Nevertheless, a hospital representative declined to respond, adding that “Any questions regarding Jasprit will be best directed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).”

Dr Schouten, the hospital website says, “is a New Zealand trained orthopaedic surgeon specialising in the management of adult spinal conditions and hip replacement surgery.” He has treated several athletes, including cricket players like James Pattinson and Jason Behrendorff in addition to Jofra Archer, as this website has previously revealed.

It is thought that Shane Bond, a former New Zealand pacer who is currently the bowling coach for Mumbai Indians, the side that Jasprit Bumrah plays for in the Indian Premier League, suggested Dr Schouten’s name to the BCCI. Yet, Bond himself would not admit that he recommended the present course of action. Graeme Inglis, Schouten’s predecessor, treated Bond in the Christchurch facility throughout his tenure.

Although the BCCI has not yet released a statement, board insiders claim that the bowler should be able to hit the nets by August after recovering in a maximum of 24 weeks. There is hope that Jasprit Bumrah will be completely prepared for the World Cup even if it may not be possible for him to play in the Asia Cup, which will most likely take place in September.

The World Cup will be held in India in October and November.
