Jemimah Rodrigues excited to play cricket for India at LA28 Olympics: "man, what a feeling that'd be"

Jemimah Rodrigues, the Indian batter is all excited about cricket's inclusion in the LA Olympics 2028. The confirmation of cricket inclusion was officially given by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The sport is expected to make major changes in India's hold in the Olympics. Cricket was a part of the 1900 Olympics in Paris with only two teams - Great Britain and France. Since then it has taken 128 years for cricket to make a return at the Olympics.

In a recent Instagram post, Jemimah Rodrigues shared her excitement about cricket's inclusion in the Los Angeles Olympics 2028. Jemimah Rodrigues posed for a picture with the jersey of the Indian Olympic team as she cheered for the Indian athletes at the Paris Olympics 2024.

"Loved wearing this current Indian Olympic jersey Can't wait to play Cricket for India at the Olympics soon!! Man, what a feeling that'd be! 👊🏼 Also our Indian athletes have shown tremendous passion, commitment, persistence and grit! Win or lose, we're proud of you," wrote Jemimah Rodrigues in her Instagram post on August 10.

The post garnered more than 50, 000 likes within just two hours and fans expressed their desire to see Jemimah Rodrigues at the Olympics.

Meanwhile, India won the gold medal at the Asian Games held in China last year. BCCI allowed the men's and the women's teams to participate in the event with both teams winning gold medals in their respective categories.

Cricket Part of Los Angeles Olympics 2028

Meanwhile, there is a lot of anticipation with cricket being added to the Olympics 2028. Teams like India, Australia, Pakistan, and England among others are expected to participate in the event and hence the status of the game is expected to be taken to new heights. It will be interesting to see whether the Indian women's team will follow up the 2028 Olympics with a gold medal win after the Asian Games triumph.

The Men's team will be one of the strong contenders to win the gold medal among the participating teams. They recently won the T20 World Cup under Rohit Sharma's captaincy which is one of the biggest tournament wins in the game.

Rohit is now looking forward to winning the ICC Champions Trophy followed by the WTC final win in 2025. India are topping the WTC points table at the moment followed by Australia in the second position. Both teams will play a Test match starting from November 2024.

Perth will host the first Test in November, followed by the second Test in Adelaide from December 6. Before the second Test, India will be playing a two-day fixture against the Prime Minister’s XI at the Manuka Oval. Gabba hosts the third Test from December 14 to 18 followed by MCG hosting the Boxing Day Test from December 26 to 30. SCG will host the final Test from January 3 to 7, 2025 to wrap up the series.

Meanwhile, speaking about Jemimah Rodrigues and the Indian women's cricket team, they recently played in the Women's Asia Cup and lost in the final to Sri Lanka who won the title for the very first time.
