Jimmy Neesham Set To Play For Hobart Hurricanes In BBL 2022-23

The dashing all-rounder Jimmy Neesham is all set to take part in the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23 season. The New Zealand Cricketer will be in the Hobart Hurricanes team. This is Neesham’s maiden stint in BBL as he has come into the team as a replacement for Faheem Ashraf.

Neesham in September had turned down New Zealand Central Contract to play franchise cricket around the globe. Along with Neesham, two senior cricketers Boult & Guptill have also refused Central Contract as the duo is going to be seen in BBL 2022-23.

Jimmy Neesham On BBL Debut

Neesham was having an interaction with the media and was asked about the upcoming season.

“I’m really excited to be involved with the Big Bash for the first time this year. I have heard great things about the Hurricanes set-up, and the list this year looks incredibly strong, so to be able to play even a small part in what I hope will be a successful tournament for the franchise is a really great opportunity for me,” said Jimmy Neesham.

“A lot of people say Tasmania is a bit like a mini New Zealand, so I’m looking forward to getting over there, meeting the guys, and playing the role that is asked of me for the team,” he added.

Conundrum For New Zealand

Kane Williamson in one of his press conferences had said that New Zealand is finding it tough to find replacements as they don’t have a large pool of players present.

We should not forget that New Zealand is one of the most consistent sides in ICC tournaments as recently they won World Test Championship (WTC 2019-21) against all odds; but due to the ever-changing landscape of Cricket, the team is losing key players.

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) need to have some serious conversation with players as building camaraderie amongst the players is very much important before the ODI World Cup 2023. New Zealand is set to play 3 ODIs and 2 Test Matches in Pakistan starting in December as that tour is very much vital for Kiwis.
