England batter Joe Root claims is breaking records for fun these days. Recently, the 33-year-old Yorkshireman surpassed Alastair Cook to become the highest run-scorer for England in Test cricket. Root achieved this humongous feat in the first Test against Pakistan at Multan.
Recently, the legendary England batter was asked if he would be able to break Sachin Tendulkar's all-time record for the most number of runs in Tests. Root's response was straight forward and he admitted that it's still too far.

During a chat with Sky Sports, Joe Root was asked about being the highest run-scorer in Tests by surpassing the great Sachin Tendulkar. Root responded by saying that he has no idea about it and that the record is still too far.
"I've no idea. It's some way off yet," Root said.
Tendulkar has scored 15.921 runs in 200 Tests at an average of 53.78. Meanwhile, Root has scored 12,644 runs so far at an average of 51.47. Root is currently the fifth-highest run-scorer in Tests.
Joe Root has been in fine form for the last few years. He had a tough patch in between but he returned back to form after the Covid-19 pandemic. Since then, the right-hander hasn't looked back and has amassed runs all around the world.

Since January 2021, he has scored a mammoth 4841 runs with Dimuth Karunaratne being the second best with 2586 runs. Root is going at a surreal pace and if he continues to perform so consistently, he has all the chance to surpass Tendulkar at some time of his career.
When asked about the technical changes in his batting, Joe Root responded that he worked on both technical and mental changes during the pandemic which helped in perform way better than he did before.
"In Covid, I spent that period off really looking at my game, the areas where I felt there were little holes and weaknesses in it, and just really trying to have a really good understanding of my strengths and weaknesses," Root said.
"And then work with the strengths and try to tighten up the areas within my game that needed to just probably raise the level. Not all of that is technical, some of it was mental and maybe looking at the game slightly differently," he added.

Meanwhile, Joe Root also reached 20,000 runs in international cricket with his stellar knock against Pakistan. He became the second batter from the Fab 4 after Virat Kohli to achieve this milestone.
Root scored a fantastic double-hundred against Pakistan at Multan. He scored 262 off 375 balls in the innings. He hit just 17 fours during his knock and had to rely on lots of ones and twos. The 33-year-old stitched a great partnership of 454 runs with Harry Brook to take England to a mammoth score of 823-7.
England went on to win the match by an innings and 47 runs on the fifth day of the Test. With this win, the visitors have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series with two more Tests to follow.
