England speedster Jofra Archer had a really terrible comeback to the Indian Premier League. After missing the last two seasons due to injuries, Jofra Archer returned to the league with Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing IPL 2025 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23.

However, the English star’s IPL return didn't go as he would have hoped, and adding to his woes, Archer ended up embarrassing himself in the world’s biggest T20 league. It was really an unforceful day for Archer, as SRH’s Ishan Kishan and Travis Head brutally hammered him.

Jofra Archer records worst bowling figures in IPL history

Actually, Rajasthan Royals fast bowler set an unwanted record in IPL history after conceding the most runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday. Jofra Archer conceded 76 runs in his four-over spell (4-0-76-0) as SRH posted the mammoth total of 286/6 on the board against the Royals in the second game of the ongoing IPL 2025.

With this brutal hammering, Archer recorded the most expensive spell in Indian Premier League history. The England star shattered Mohit Sharma’s worst figures, conceding 73 runs against Delhi Capitals in the last season, to become the most expensive bowler in IPL history.

Jofra Archer’s nightmare outing began in the powerplay when Travis Head smashed him for 23 runs in an over with a flurry of fours and a towering six in Hyderabad. Things only got worse then as Ishan Kishan unleashed his power, launching three massive sixes in Archer’s third over.

His final over turned into a disaster, with the Barbados-born speedster leaking five boundaries, including an unfortunate waist-high no-ball that sped away for four byes against the SRH.

Most expensive bowling figures in the IPL:

0/76—Jofra Archer (RR) vs. SRH, Hyderabad, 2025*

0/73—Mohit Sharma (GT) vs. DC, Delhi, 2024

0/70—Basil Thampi (SRH) vs. RCB, Bengaluru, 2018

0/69—Yash Dayal (GT) vs. KKR, Ahmedabad, 2023

1/68 - Reece Topley (RCB) vs SRH, Bengaluru, 2024

1/68 - Luke Wood (MI) vs DC, Delhi, 2024

RR deep trouble despite Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel's fighting fifties

Meanwhile, after losing three early wickets, including Yashasvi Jaiswal (1), Riyan Parag (4), and Nitish Rana (8), Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel stabilized the Royals’ innings against Hyderabad in their season opener.

Both Samson and Jurel have completed their fifties, but the Royals are far behind the target, as they still need 160 runs in 47 balls to beat SRH on their home ground.

Notably, the SRH last season relied heavily on their batting lineup and posted record totals on the board, thanks to their aggressive approach.

SRH have a strong bowling attack for IPL 2025

They continued their template in the ongoing IPL 2025 as well, as they have posted the IPL’s second-highest total of 286/6 against the RR in Hyderabad.

However, this season, the Hyderabad team also has a strong bowling attack with the addition of Australian spinner Adam Zampa and Indian pacers Mohammed Shami and Harshal Patel. They will certainly give them new dimensions with the ball in the ongoing season.
