England pacer Jofra Archer has made a strong case for the inclusion of his Sussex teammate Ollie Robinson in the English Test squad for the upcoming summer.

England are scheduled to kickstart their international summer by hosting New Zealand in a two-match Test series followed by a five-match rubber against India later in the summer.

Jofra Archer, who returned to competitive cricket this week, looked in full flow alongside his partner-in-crime Ollie Robinson as they combined to take five wickets against Kent.

The duo of Jofra Archer and Ollie Robinson took a wicket each in the second innings too.

”Hopefully, Ollie Robinson will get his [England] chance this summer,” Jofra Archer told thecricketer.com. “We all know what he can do, he’s a talented bowler and his stats prove that.” he added.

Archer, who bowled a fiery spell in the first innings following his return to cricket after a layoff due to his elbow issues and the surgery that he underwent on his hand following a freak fish tank incident last January, also opened up about his fitness.

“My fitness is fine, I thought I bowled okay. I played in the second team (against Surrey) last week and it’s good to get some confidence I felt fine. I bowled in short spells for protection in case we had a long day but it was overcast, which helped a bit. There was a bit of management, but it all worked out,” he added.

As far as Ollie Robinson is concerned, the fast bowler is the third-highest wicket-taker in the ongoing County Championship, having claimed 25 wickets in just four games at an average of 13.80.

The Sussex cricketer has thus far featured in 62 First-Class games and has claimed 275 wickets at an average of 21.05 with as many as 16 five-wicket hauls against his name.
