England seamer Stuart Broad has said that his fellow teammate and pacer Jofra Archer is working hard to keep himself fit for the upcoming T20 World Cup and the Ashes.

Broad further revealed that Archer is very frustrated with his persistent elbow issues.

Jofra Archer has been grappled with an elbow injury since the last summer and the injury has thus far ensured that it keeps the Barbados-born pacer out of action.

Archer, who underwent surgery to remove a fragment of glass from a tendon on his right hand, returned to the County Championship last week after having missed out on the ODI series against India and the curtailed 14th season of the IPL.

However, his comeback was short-lived as his elbow injury once again resurfaced during his second innings spell.

Archer could only bowl five overs before he left the field. He did not bowl on the final day and has now been ruled out of the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand.

“He’s frustrated with the elbow,” Broad told Sky Sports News on Monday. “He is down and disappointed at the moment, but he is also realistic in knowing that there is some huge cricket to come, with a T20 World Cup in October and then the Ashes series. He wants to get right for that,” added Stuart Broad.

“It’s quite a longstanding issue now and it keeps raising its ugly head at times he doesn’t want it to,” Broad said. It’s frustrating for him, feeling like he wants to get back into some competitive cricket but his elbow is just not letting him.” he said.
