Jonny Bairstow’s terrific run for England under the leadership of Ben Stokes & Brendon McCullum has been amazing. The right-handed batter was named the first recipient of the Bob Willis Trophy. He received the honour at the annual end-of-season lunch of the Cricket Writers’ Club (CWC).
Bairstow is set to make a comeback most likely in 2023 as his injury has gone from bad to worse. Earlier it was assumed that he would take a part in Pakistan vs England Test Series 2022 in December. His absence leaves a big hole in the team as he is someone who can change the game in a short period.
Jordon Cox Receives Youngest Cricketer Award
The inception of Hundred has meant that the young Cricketers get a chance to showcase their credentials. The batter was a force to reckon with for Kent and the Oval Invincibles across all formats. He was chosen as the Young Cricketer of the Year. The batter would be hoping that he continues his form; he has shown some good hitting ability.
The batter was a part of the recently concluded England T20I Series but didn’t receive the cap. The batter would have got invaluable experience at the International Level. It would be interesting to see whether he gets a chance in the ODI & Test format. The batter knows how to play smartly which is his peculiarity.
Freya Kemp won Emerging Cricketer of the Year
The 17-year-old all-rounder Freya Kemp would be delighted after receiving the award. The left-handed batter has shown that she can play according to the situation. In the recently concluded T20I Series India, the batter played a terrific knock against the Mighty Blue.
Freya would be aware that she has to make every match count. It won’t be wrong to say that the batter is a good prospect for England Women’s Cricket Team. England Women would be thrilled to see a youngster in the team who has all the traits to succeed.
