The 24-year-old England National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Jordan Cox has received a belated call-up after his heroics in the recent edition of The Hundred competition.

Jordan Cox has been added to the T20I squad of the England National Cricket Team for the upcoming T20I series that will be played in Dublin later this month.

England currently involved in a white-ball series against South Africa

The Three Lions are currently engaged in a white-ball series against the Proteas. England faced a humiliating 7-wicket defeat in the ODI series-opener against South Africa at Headingley in Leeds on Tuesday, September 2, as they were bowled out for 131 and allowed the run-chase to be completed in 20.5 overs.

The next two matches of the ODI series are set to be played on September 4 and 7. After that, the two teams will go head-to-head in a three-match T20I series on September 10, 12, and 14.

Following the action against the Proteas, a second-string English team will travel to Ireland for a three-match T20I series, which will be played in Dublin on September 17, 19, and 21.

Young all-rounder Jacob Bethell has been appointed as the captain for the series, and he is set to become the youngest-ever England Men’s captain in international cricket.

Jordan Cox joins England T20I squad for Ireland series

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) selection committee has given a late selection call to Jordan Cox for the T20I matches against Ireland after his heroics in The Hundred.

Cox looked in stellar form in the 100-ball competition while playing for the Oval Invincibles. He consistently scored runs for the team and played a key role in their victory in The Hundred 2025.

He scored 367 runs at an average of 61.16 at a strike rate of 173.92 to win the Player of the Tournament award as Oval Invincibles registered a 26-run victory over Trent Rockets in the summit clash to win the title for the third time on the trot.

I always try and bang that door down - Jordan Cox

Speaking after winning the Player of the Tournament award, Jordan Cox stated that he would continue to knock on the door for England selection, as nothing is more satisfying than playing for the nation. He said:

"Just having a bit of fun (key to success). Our team's so strong, it's about having fun with your mates. Donovan's only faced about 40 balls. Shows how deep we bat. Class lineup, very fortunate. I always try and bang that door down. Playing for the country is the most satisfying thing. If it comes it comes."

The young wicketkeeper-batsman has so far played three ODIs and two T20Is for England and has failed miserably. Also, he broke his thumb on the eve of his designated Test debut in New Zealand; otherwise, he would have represented England in red-ball format as well.
