Shreyas Iyer elected to bat first, winning the toss. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made his Team India debut in the format during the match. There were a lot of expectations over the young batter. Though his first outing with the senior national cricket team ended a unceremonius way. Sooryavanshi was dismissed for only 14 runs from 10 balls with a couple of maximums. He announced his arrival on the stage with a huge six off the England pacer Jofra Archer.
